Walter, the camping safari in Tanzania--through Arusha, Tarangire and Serengeti National Parks and Ngorongoro Conservation Area---was even better than I dreamed. Elephants, Africn buffalo and wildebeest crossed before us as if on parade. Giraffes, ostriches and zebra looked unreal--as if they'd jumped from the pages of a children's book
.Actually, I'd rank my Serengeti Safari among the Top Five journeys I've ever made.
That's a powerful statement because those other trips include:
* watching whales, sea lions, salmon, glaciers and grizzly bears from the deck of a small ship in southeastern Alaska.
* a three-week spring wildflower air cruise around Australia when I climbed Ayres Rock (now called Uhuru) and watched black swans on a silver river while the sun rose.
* trekking with the Maoris for five days through New Zealand's Urewera Mountains (fresh-caught fish for breakfast, wild strawberries).
* cruising under sail from Phuket, Thailand, to the port of Singapore (with a chance to go snorkel among fish at remote coral reefs).
Asante sana to you, Charles, Elisante (along with Shawn and Billy) for this Safari Arts Expeditions trip of a lifetime. Sally
