In December 2009, Safari Arts Expeditions collaborated with residents of Bloomington, Indiana to make a dream come true for 35 teenaged orphans and 7 staff to go for a day tour of Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania, East Africa. They had a wonderful time and saw lots of elephants, giraffes, hippos, and many different antelope species. They also had a picnic lunch at a very nice view point.

Why are we doing this?
A lot of children and adults have never seen the beautiful nature of Tanzania. Many people live around the National Parks; however, few actually have the opportunity to visit and enjoy the wildlife within them. The teenagers and staff live only an hour away from the Lake Manyara National Park, but without financial assistance, it is unlikely that they would have been able to visit it.

Safari Arts Expeditions is among very few tour operators who want to educate local people about the rich, natural beauty of their country, especially those who cannot afford to travel. We are looking forward to additional fund raising events and organizing more field trips like this in the future. The children learned a lot during their safari and now have an understanding about the value of their natural resources. They are the future Park Rangers and Park Wardens so let’s help to start teaching them about wildlife
